1 Thessalonians 5 [part 1]

I found the coolest thing in my devotions on Sabbath, and I just had to share it. :)

In 1 Thessalonians 5:2, it says, "For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night." Then, it, says, in verse 4: "But you, brethren are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief." It goes on, in verses 5 and 6: "Ye are all children of the light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of the darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober." I thought that was such an amazing analogy! Sure, the Second Coming might creep up on some, because they are in darkness. They aren't ready for it, so it will come as a surprise, like a thief in the night. But to us, who are in the light, it won't come as a surprise, because we will totally see it coming! We will have the light we need to read the signs around us, so it won't be surprising at all. In fact, we will be waiting and watching. So when we finally see Him, we will be able to say, "Lo, this is our God, and we have waited for Him. (Isaiah 25:9)"
